The Adventure Begins!

We’ve talked for a long time about getting an RV but it seemed impossible.

After thinking about getting involved in Airbnb but we weren’t in a position to get strategic real estate to rent out. Plus, if we wanted to use it ourselves, we’d be going to the same place over and over again.

Then, we got a crazy idea. After watching too many YouTube videos about tiny houses and RV renovations we came across Outdoorsy and RV Share. After doing a lot of research we started exploring purchasing a used RV and using our construction skills to fix it up and then rent it out to subsidize our own adventures.

So, we did it.

We found the RV we wanted in a facebook ad. It was in great shape and had good mileage. We did the deal and parked it on the driveway which brought us the ire of the HOA (but they were cool about it). It took three weeks to remodel and we were really happy with the results.

We learned a lot along the way and I think the biggest lesson was to NOT hand paint the cabinets. I would have saved probably a week of time renting or purchasing a paint sprayer.

Our garage is still a wreck but at least the RV is done and sitting in its home waiting for our first renter. We already landed a renter for the latter part of November but we could still get several in the first part of next month.

Well, let’s see how this goes!
